Roles & Responsibilities

Our client is a leading apparel manufacturer seeking for a General Manager – HR & Compliance will be responsible for leading and managing the human resources and compliance functions within the organization. This role will ensure that the company adheres to all regulatory requirements while fostering a positive, productive, and compliant workplace culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. HR Management:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training, and development.
  • Manage employee relations, ensuring a positive and legally compliant work environment.
  • Develop and monitor overall HR systems, policies, and procedures across the organization.
  • Lead compensation and benefits planning, ensuring competitive and equitable remuneration.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives to build a strong, motivated workforce.

2. Compliance Management:

  • Ensure company adherence to all local, state, and federal labor laws and regulations specific to the apparel industry.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability and address them proactively.
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies and ensure all required filings and reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Provide guidance and training to management and staff on compliance-related matters.

3. Leadership & Strategy:

  • Act as a strategic partner to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations on HR and compliance issues.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR & Compliance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with department heads to align HR and compliance strategies with operational goals.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, ensuring the company remains competitive and compliant.

4. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE):

  • Oversee the development and implementation of HSE policies and practices in line with industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manage workplace safety programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.

5. Labor Relations:

  • Manage relationships with unions, if applicable, including negotiations and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and other labor-related obligations.

Pre Requisites

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 – 12 years of HR experience with at least 5 years in a senior HR role within the apparel industry.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations specific to the apparel industry.
  • Proven experience in managing compliance functions within a manufacturing or apparel environment.
