Roles & Responsibilities

Our client is a leading apparel manufacturer seeking for a General Manager – Operations who will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire production and operational processes within the apparel manufacturing facility. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic planning, and hands-on experience in handling high-volume production while ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Production & Operations Management:

  • Oversee end-to-end production processes to ensure timely delivery of high-volume apparel orders.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure that production targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met or exceeded.
  • Coordinate with different departments (cutting, sewing, finishing, and packaging) to ensure seamless operations.

2. Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet customer expectations and industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and labor regulations.
  • Work closely with the QA team to minimize defects and rejections.

3. Supply Chain & Inventory Management:

  • Manage raw material procurement and inventory to prevent shortages or excess stock.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and logistics teams to ensure a smooth supply chain.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize resource utilization.

4. Cost Control & Budgeting:

  • Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Monitor and control expenses related to production, labor, and materials.

5. Team Leadership & Workforce Management:

  • Lead, train, and develop a high-performing operations team, including production managers, supervisors, and factory workers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Ensure effective workforce planning, recruitment, and training to meet production demands.

6. Process Improvement & Innovation:

  • Implement best practices and new technologies to enhance production efficiency.
  • Drive automation initiatives where feasible to increase productivity.
  • Analyze operational data to make informed business decisions.

7. Customer & Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with the sales and merchandising teams to understand customer requirements and ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Address operational challenges proactively to ensure smooth business operations.

Pre Requisites

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Production Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business Administration.
  • 10 – 12+ years of experience in operations management within the apparel manufacturing industry, with a proven track record of handling high-volume production.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience in factory management, supply chain coordination, and workforce supervision.
