Head of Finance

The Head of Finance will be responsible for driving the organization’s overall financial health through strong fiscal management, procurement strategies, and optimized accounts receivable operations. This role requires a seasoned finance leader with deep expertise in financial planning, reporting, and compliance, combined with a strong understanding of supplier management, working capital control, and receivable optimization.

The incumbent will serve as a strategic partner to management, ensuring financial integrity, process efficiency, and sustainable business growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Financial Strategy & Leadership

• Oversee all aspects of financial management including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking.
• Develop and implement financial policies, systems, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure statutory compliance.
• Provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions, cost optimization, and profitability improvement.
• Manage treasury functions including liquidity management, cash flow planning, and banking relationships.
• Lead external audits, tax planning, and statutory reporting in accordance with local and international standards.

2. Procurement Management

• Lead the procurement and sourcing function, ensuring transparency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness in all purchasing decisions.
• Develop vendor evaluation frameworks, negotiate commercial terms, and ensure procurement aligns with budgetary controls.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely supply of goods/services while minimizing cost and risk exposure.

3. Accounts Receivable & Credit Control

• Direct and manage accounts receivable operations to ensure timely invoicing, collection, and accurate reporting.
• Monitor credit risk, customer payment patterns, and debtor ageing to maintain healthy cash flow.
• Establish and enforce credit policies and limits in coordination with the sales and commercial teams.
• Resolve billing discrepancies and ensure proactive follow-up with customers to reduce overdue accounts.
• Prepare AR dashboards and collection forecasts for management review and decision-making.

4. Financial Planning, Reporting & Analysis

• Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Analyze key financial metrics and trends to identify risks, opportunities, and performance gaps.
• Develop and manage the annual budget cycle and monitor performance against approved budgets.
• Drive data accuracy and integration between finance, procurement, and operations systems for effective reporting.

5. Team Leadership & Process Optimization

• Mentor and guide the finance, procurement, and receivable teams to build capability and accountability.
• Champion automation, ERP enhancements, and data-driven decision-making across finance processes.
• Implement internal control mechanisms and compliance frameworks to ensure financial discipline and transparency.
• Promote cross-departmental collaboration between finance, operations, and commercial functions.
