About the Role:

We are looking for a proactive, disciplined, and performance-oriented Shift Manager to oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations during assigned shifts at our fast-moving FMCG production facility in Colombo. This role plays a vital part in ensuring production targets are met efficiently, safely, and with a focus on quality. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, people-focused, and capable of managing production teams, solving problems on the floor, and ensuring operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage all production activities during the assigned shift to ensure timely and efficient output.
  • Monitor shift-wise performance metrics such as productivity, quality, downtime, and adherence to schedules.
  • Allocate workforce and resources effectively to meet production and safety goals.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company SOPs, health and safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Provide guidance and direction to production staff, machine operators, and support personnel.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues quickly to minimize disruption and downtime.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality assurance, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth shift operations.
  • Conduct shift handovers and maintain accurate records of production activities, incidents, and output.
  • Lead toolbox talks and briefings to reinforce safety, quality, and operational targets.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and recommending practical solutions.

Pre Requisites

Key Requirements:

  • A Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a production or supervisory role, ideally within the FMCG or related manufacturing sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team across shifts.
  • Good working knowledge of production processes, safety standards, and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP or MES systems for production tracking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English and Sinhala.
  • Willingness to work on rotational shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
